Out of Programme Experience

We are offering competitive 6-month research placements (with potential to extend another 6 months) to clinicians as an ‘Out Of Programme Experience’ (OOPE) in the Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders. These placements will provide research-protected time for clinical specialist trainees in neurology, psychiatry and related disciplines.

OOPE placements can be undertaken in any of the Centre laboratories and will provide an opportunity to not only develop research skills, but also to generate critical preliminary data which could then be used to apply for a Clinical Training Fellowship or intermediate fellowship.

We have two application rounds a year, one in spring and one in autumn. Informal inquiries are welcome at any time; please contact laura.andreae@kcl.ac.uk

Who can apply?

Clinicians at any stage of training are welcome to apply, but we particularly encourage those who are intending to pursue a PhD or intermediate fellowship and are keen to obtain additional research experience and/or preliminary data beforehand.

OOPE positions are open to all UK clinical trainees, including those on academic paths who would benefit from additional research time.
