The DevNeuro Academy Widening Participation was developed and implemented by Andreia Carvalho, Darren Williams, Kinga Bercsenyi, Greta Schachermayer and Paride Antinucci in 2015, and it is supported by a grant from the King’s Widening Participation Department.
In the two years the programme has been running, over 30 Postdoctoral researchers and PhD students from the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology have delivered 20 in-school interactive ‘Discovery workshops’ in three local non-selective state schools, to over 80 sixth-form students. As part of the project, we have also hosted 37 students for a two-week laboratory summer research work experience in our Centre.
