I completed my PhD in 2013, in the lab of Dr Laurent Nguyen at Giga-Neuroscience, Belgium. I studied the role of microRNAs in cortical development. I discovered that miR-22 and -124 target components of the CoREST/REST transcriptional repressor complex, thereby regulating doublecortin transcription in migrating neurons.
I then moved to London for a 3-year postdoc position in the lab of Dr Setsuko Sahara at the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology. My research focussed on the molecular mechanisms controlling the diversity of cortical progenitors.
I am now Scientific Affairs Manager in the Centre. My role focuses on coordination of the Centre?s funding applications, and provision of support and advice to academic staff. I am also responsible for the Centre?s external communication strategy and public engagement activities.
