Welcome to Dr Patrcia Garcez, Lecturer in Neuroscience Education

18/11/25

Dr Garcez, Lecturer in Neuroscience Education, joins the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology (CDN) as one of the Centre’s Education Leaders. Dr Garcez moves to CDN from King’s College London’s Department of Neuroimaging, where she has been a lecturer for almost four years.

Dr Garcez is the King’s College London's MSc Clinical Neuroscience programme leader. She teaches developmental neurobiology and neuroanatomy to BSc Neuroscience and Neuroscience and Psychology students, as well as leading modules for MSc Neuroscience and Clinical Neuroscience students.

Patricia’s research interests focus on maternal infections and their impact on neurogenesis. In particular, she has been studying the mechanisms behind infection-induced microcephaly and other congenital brain malformations, such as Congenital Zika Syndrome.

This move to CDN builds on Patricia’s long-standing collaborations with members of CDN, including Prof Richard Wingate, Dr Katie Long, and Prof Clemens Kiecker.

"I am thrilled to join the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, where collaboration and the pioneering research environment resonate with my scientific journey. Being part of CDN offers a unique opportunity to connect with colleagues who share the passion for advancing our understanding of brain development. I look forward to contributing to the centre and to the developmental neurobiology community." Dr Patricia Garcez
